Disney Plus launching includes Marvel Superheroes movies stream right but fans can’t watch Spider-Man movies due to Disney not has rights. These movies were made with Sony’s and Marvel’s agreement. But now you can soon able to watch Spider-Man Old movies, Venom, Morbus, or Spider-Man: No Way Home.
As per the report published by Variety on 21 April, Sony’s movies streaming service for their first-pay windows, which usually come eighteen months after a film release in theaters. And once that window expires, For the US the new Disney has rights to Sony’s movie to stream on the Disney+ platform for their Pay 2 windows after the Netflix run. Netflix already has an agreement with Sony in April to stream Sony’s movies in the US. The deal runs valid from 2022 to 2026.
Keith Le Goy, president of worldwide distribution & networks for Sony Pictures Entertainment, said that:
“This groundbreaking agreement reconfirms the unique and enduring value of our movies to film lovers and the platforms and networks that serve them. We are thrilled to team up with Disney on delivering our titles to their viewers and subscribers. This agreement cements a key piece of our film distribution strategy, which is to maximize the value of each of our films, by making them available to consumers across all windows with a wide range of key partners.”
The official statement of Chuck Saftler, the head of business operations for ABC, said that:
“This landmark multi-year, platform-agnostic agreement guarantees the team at Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution a tremendous amount of flexibility and breadth of programming possibilities to leverage Sony’s rich slate of award-winning action and family films across our direct-to-consumer services and linear channels. This is a win for fans, who will benefit from the ability to access the very best content from two of Hollywood’s most prolific studios across a multitude of viewing platforms and experiences.”
This opens the door for Spider-Man and other SpiderVerse fans to watch on Disney Plus as they can watch Marvel movies. Even some other big movies like Jumanji and Hotel Transylvania franchises also come under this deal. As well as some upcoming big-screen movies like Venom: Let there be Carnage, Morbus, and more.
