Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire Rumored to Reprise Their Spider-Man Roles in Future Marvel Films

With the latest news regarding Jared Leto’s new ‘Morbiusfilm delaying until April of this year, many fans are speculating exactly why this is. Although the delaying of the film is more likely to deal with a new strand of the coronavirus, it should not be rules out entirely that the delaying could be for reshoots. Reshoots possibly involve Andrew Garfield making a cameo in his own universe prior to his debut as Spider-Man in Tom Holland’s third film after seven long years.

Ever since the Morbius trailer released a while ago, many fans were questioning where exactly this universe was going to take place. Fans thought it could be Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man universe considering it was his PS4 Spider-Man suit that was graffitied on a wall. They also believed it could remain in the MCU Spider-Man universe considering Michael Keaton’s Vulture was seen in the trailer. And lastly, Andrew’s universe due to the fact that the Oscorp building in the trailer looked to be the exact one from the Garfield films.

Even though this film can go literally any direction, it was quite surprising to see how many fans were on board with the movement to push an Amazing Spider-Man 3 film starring Andrew Garfield after he returned in Spider-Man No Way Home. In the previous week, Sony has expressed their undesire to do this, especially now with Tom Holland already confirmed for a new trilogy. But they did not say that either Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire won’t appear in future films in the MCU and Sonyverse which is quite interesting.

Many fans also pointed out that Morbius teased a Venom return in the latest trailer that was released on the web and in the previews to Spider-Man No Way Home with Michael Morbius saying “I am venom” as Tom Hardy did in his ‘Venom’ movie. Considering that Andrew Garfield was reportedly ready to take on Venom in his third Spider-Man film, could they finally carry out their plans and bring Venom into Morbius’ universe alongside Garfield’s Spider-Man? It will be really interesting to see what they do, but it is leaning toward this outcome indefinitely.

Sam Raimi and Danny Elfman Are Returning In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Another interesting nod to point out is the fact that Sam Raimi and Danny Elfman are returning in Doctor Strange’s next film, so could Tobey also appear as a cameo to reunite the trio seen in Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy?

After Sony also did not entirely rule out the return of Tobey Maguire, it is definitely a positive sign that both Raimi and Elfman are doing Strange’s movie as they used to team up in an iconic fashion with the original Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire.

In the second post credit scene of Spider-Man No Way Home, the infamous Strange Supreme was seen face-to-face with MCU Strange in familiar fashion to the What-If episode involving the two. If you remember, Doctor Strange was also brought up in Rami’s ‘Spider-Man 2’ with J.K. Simmons’ J Jonah referencing the fact that his name was already taken in finding a headline for one of his stories.

Could we see the second Doctor Strange movie partially take place in the Raimi verse with Strange Supreme as Tobey’s Doctor Strange? The idea is not far off and a couple of sources have indicated that the return of Tobey Maguire is imminent, so this should definitely be a possibility. Tobey Maguire, along with Andrew Garfield, has also been seen in Los Angeles recently a lot more than usual with costume fitting appearances and closer to the set sites.

Closure:

Although Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield had an excellent close out in Spider-Man No Way Home, fans have pushed the return of both spider men in remarkable fashion. After hearing multiple sources point out that the two actors will yet again return as Spider-Man in future projects, these are the only outcomes that make sense for their return! It is also a great time to point out the fact that these two actors will not get their own Spider-Man movies, which some fans do not like the idea of. But it is important that Marvel, especially the MCU, stays consistent with their superheroes. It is also a clear fact that the next Spider-Man movie, apart from the Spider-Verse projects, is going to be Holland’s fourth film leading to his second trilogy.

All in all, each Spider-Man is set to return in exciting fashion in their own universes with different villains that will be introduced in the Sonyverse and possibly the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
